What is the treatment process for Dental Veneers?
If you would like dental veneers, the dentist will first check you are suitable to have the treatment. Oral hygiene and excellent gum health are essential and this will be evaluated before the treatment can start.
The treatment phase is usually done in two stages. The first stage is where the tooth is prepared for the veneer. This is normally done with local anaesthetic (just like when you have a filling). A mould is taken of the prepared tooth and a temporary filling is placed over the tooth whilst the veneer is being constructed in the lab.
The second stage of the treatment is usually a week or two later when the final veneer or veneers are tried in the mouth for fit and and appearance before they are cemented in.
Regular review and maintenance is required for dental veneers, just like you do with your usual dentition. A full follow up and maintenance plan about when to see the hygienist and dentist will be discussed during your cosmetic treatment.
