Tooth Extractions
At Arch Dental Care Baldock, we will do our best to help you to try and save your teeth. Oral hygiene techniques are discussed with dentists and hygienists in routine appointments regularly to minimise the risk of tooth loss. However, in some instances, a dental extraction may be required. We fully appreciate dental extractions can be daunting and stressful so our friendly team will ensure the process is conducted in the most relaxed and seamless manner.
Why may I need a Dental Extraction?
- Very deep decay of a tooth such that it cannot be repaired
- Severe gum disease around a tooth
- A very loose tooth that cannot be firmed up
- A cracked tooth in a way that treatment would not work
What is the treatment process for Dental Extractions?
The treatment phase is usually done in one visit using local anaesthetic depending on the individual case. The dentist will discuss post extraction care about what to eat, drink and how to keep the area clean after the treatment has been performed.
For certain cases, we may need to refer you to another clinic. Your dentist can discuss this with you.
We have a lovely Oral Surgeon at the practice who is a specialist in dental extractions. You can speak to your dentist about seeing them.
How do I replace the tooth once extracted?
Replacing a missing tooth can have following benefits:
- Improve appearance and aesthetics
- Improve chewing ability
- Improve speech
- Improve self confidence
- Prevent load on adjacent teeth that could damage them
- Prevent tipping or movement of adjacent teeth
We have a range of options to replace teeth once extracted including Dental Implants, Bridges and Dentures. Please speak to your dentist to discuss which treatment option would be best for your particular case.
