What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a very popular system that involves the patient wearing a series of clear, comfortable aligners to straighten the team. They can easily be removed for meals, brushing and special occasions.
The aligners are bespoke to the individual patient and constructed using the latest 3D digital technology. They are usually changed every 2 weeks as they slowly and safely move your teeth into your ideal position.

Arch Dental Care Invisalign Treatment Process
Consultation
This would be your first visit. The dentist will discuss with you in detail your wants, needs and expectation. A digital 3D scan and photos would be taken.
CLINCHECK
We send the photos and 3D scan to Invisalign who use amazing software to create a simulation and video of how you team could look with Invisalign treatment.
TREATMENT
This second appointment is usually 2 weeks after your first consultation. The dentist will discuss your Clincheck and explain with photos how your team would look after Invisalign. If you are happy, the bespoke Invisalign aligners are ordered and you would come for the Invisalign fitting appointment. You are shown how to wear and clean the aligners.
COMPLETION
The dentist will usually ask you to come every 8 weeks until the alignment is completed. On these review appointments, we monitor how the teeth are moving. At the end of the treatment, further treatment such as whitening and bonding can be discussed.

FAQ’s
Most Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a candidate?
Yes, almost certainly. Invisalign is a great option for the vast majority of adult patients. Please book a consultation by calling us and your dentist will discuss a tailor made plan.
What are clear aligners made of?
The clear aligners are made from a cleverly designed plastic called SmartTrack. The aligners are very comfortable and almost transparent.
Can I treat both top and bottom teeth?
The majority of patients will treat top and bottom teeth to achieve the desired treatment outcome.
I’ve had orthodontic treatment in the past. Can I still get Invisalign?
Yes, of course. Many of our patients who undergo Invisalign treatment have had some form of orthodontic work in the past.
I’m already wearing braces. Can I switch to Invisalign?
If you are already undergoing braces treatment, we would recommend you speak to your dentist who is doing the braces for you. Often, it depends how far down the treatment you are.
I’ve had dental work like veneers, crowns or bridges. Can I still get Invisalign?
Yes you can. However, it depends exavtly on the type of work you have had. We would advise to arrange an Invisalign consultation so options can be fully discussed.
What happens if I break my aligner?
Breaking an aligner is surprisingly hard to do. If it does happen, please contact Arch Dental Care promptly and we will arrange for a replacement. In the interim, often you would work your previous aligner.
Is it painful?
No, the treatment is comfortable. The aligners are custom made to fit precisely around your teeth and gums. Of course, you will feel a gentle pressure on your teeth as the aligner moves the teeth into the desired position.
How often do I change my aligner?
Usually aligners are changed weekly but this is case dependent and will be discussed by your dentist at the initial appointment.
Will people know I’m wearing an aligner?
The aligner is almost transparent. Invisalign treatment is very subtle and discrete and is not very noticeable.
Can I take the aligner out whenever I want to?
Yes, the aligner is removable relatively easily. The recommendation is though to wear it 22 hours a day to get the desired tooth movement in the expected timeframe.
How long does treatment take?
Treatment time is very case dependent. Usually, most cases are completely within 6 to 12 months.
How do I take care of my aligners?
Cleaning and maintenance of the aligners is important to prevent damage, distortion and staining of the plastic. Usually, a toothbrush and toothpaste work best.
Can I smoke while wearing Invisalign?
Smoking is not recommended (although possible) with Invisalign aligners due to the risk of staining.
How about chewing gum?
Chewing gum is not recommended when wearing the Invisalign aligner. It can be very messy and damage or distort the aligner.
Are there any diet restrictions?
No, absolutely not.
